Uses of Digital Impressions:

Digital impressions are a form of technology that, through the use of lasers and other optical scanning devices, allows dentists to create a virtual, computer-generated replica of the hard and soft tissues in the mouth. Using digital impression technology dentists are able to capture high-quality, accurate and clear impressions in just minutes without the use of messy molds and plaster. Many of our patients find that digital impressions are an easier and more comfortable procedure than traditional methods used to form impressions.

  • Improved quality of impressions & high-quality dental restorations
  • Increased efficiency, productivity and accuracy
  • Eliminates the need for dental impressions
  • A more green and eco-friendly practice in a paper-free environment

The process of taking digital impressions is pain-free and non-invasive. The impression is typically captured using an intra-oral wand that is moved over the surface of the patient’s teeth. This can all be done chairside with the aid of a monitor to display the images for both the dentist and patient to see. The data is then transmitted electronically to the dental laboratory on site for use in restoration fabrication. The final restoration can be done during the same appointment.
