The use of technology can sometimes be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, technological advances have helped to make peoples everyday lives much easier. On the other hand, things that are new aren’t without their risks.
Although X-ray technology isn’t anything new, the risks that they pose are still a real thing that concerns many people.
Dental x-rays are very commonplace (to examine the growth of wisdom teeth, spot cavities between teeth, etc.) Personally, I’ve never really thought too much about potential risks associated with getting an X-ray at the dentist. When you actually give it some thought however, when they place the lead vest around your chest and leave the room altogether to do the X-ray, I can understand why people would be fearful of risks.
If you have any fears about x-ray machines and overall health implications on the body after they’ve been used, fear not. Newer x-ray machines emit lower levels of radiation than ever before and are quite effective.
To quell any fears or concerns you might have regarding x-rays and their effects, make sure you consult with your local Ottawa dental professional.
